WBO and Lavoro Join Forces to Expand Debate on Labor and Social Rights Internationally
The WBO and the Lavoro Institute have begun a joint effort to internationalize the debate on labor and social rights. Over the course of 12 months, joint actions will be undertaken to expand the international reach of issues such as the growing informality and precariousness of the labor market, work on digital platforms, working hours, wage equality, union organization, and respect for human rights standards in the world of work.

The Washington Brazil Office (WBO) and the United States Network for Democracy in Brazil (USNDB) launched a petition on Wednesday, January 29, addressed to the Brazilian and U.S. governments in which they ask that the authorities put an end to the human rights violations that have been committed against deported immigrants.
U.S. Government Deportations Must Not Violate Human Rights, says WBO
The deportation of 88 Brazilian citizens sent back from the United State to Brazil on the evening of Saturday, January 25, was marked by several violations of International Human Rights Law and other international documents on immigration, which requires a strong reaction not only from the Brazilian government, but also from civil society in both countries, as well as from regional agencies responsible for monitoring the situation, in the view of the Washington Brazil Office (WBO).
The 2024 retrospective by the Brazil Office Alliance
The year 2024 marked an institutional milestone with the creation of the Aliança Brazil Office /Brazil Office Alliance and the launch of the Europa Brazil Office (Brussels and Geneva) and the Associação Brasil Office (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília), which will now work in an integrated and coordinated manner with the Washington Brazil Office (United States).
Brazilian congressional delegation goes to Washington to discuss climate action, democracy, and sustainable development
The CIPÓ Platform, in partnership with the Washington Brazil Office (WBO) and the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic, is leading a congressional diplomacy delegation to Washington from December 4 to 6, 2024. WBO and Partners Demand Implementation of Measures in Favor of Indigenous People and Defenders in Javari
A group of Brazilian civil society organizations, including the Washington Brazil Office (WBO), achieved an important achievement by getting the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to recommend the effective implementation by the Brazilian State of precautionary measures to protect Indigenous defenders of the Javari Valle, in the state of Amazonas with a focus on territorial security, accountability for crimes, and the promotion the memory of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, who were murdered in the region in 2022.
